Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, the Committee resumed its study on the federal government’s initiative to resettle Syrian refugees to Canada.

STATEMENT BY THE CHAIR

The Chair determined that the question raised by the Honourable Michelle Rempel on Thursday, October 6, 2016, did not relate to parliamentary privilege.

At 3:54 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 3:54 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee commenced consideration of a draft report.

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "After the Warm Welcome: Ensuring that Syrian Refugees Succeed".

It was agreed, — That the Committee append to its report any dissenting and/or supplementary opinions provided that they are no more than ten (10) pages in length, in the same style and format as the report (Arial, 12 point, single space); and that it is submitted electronically in both official languages to the Clerk of the Committee, no later than Friday, October 28, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. (EDT).

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report, and insert the adopted recommendations in the most appropriate locations.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

At 5:29 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
