Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, the Committee resumed its study of settlement services across Canada.

Mario Calla and Gemma Mendez-Smith made statements and answered questions.

At 4:26 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:27 p.m., the sitting resumed.

John Shield, by videoconference from Toronto, Ontario, and Christine Buuck made statements and answered questions.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That, with regards to the Committee study of the Subject Matter of Clauses 291 to 300 (Part 4, Division 15) (An Act respecting the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants) of Bill C-97, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on March 19, 2019 and other measures, the Committee meet on Monday, May 6: from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. for the appearance from the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration; from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. to hear from officials from the Department of Citizenship and Immigration; from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. to hear from further witnesses; that the Committee meet on Tuesday, May 7, from 9:00 a.m. to noon, to hear from witnesses and that the Committee meet on Monday, May 13 to consider recommendations and amendments to send to the Standing Committee on Finance.

It was agreed, — That, with regards to the Committee study of the Subject Matter of Clauses 301 to 310 (Part 4, Division 16) (Immigration and Refugee Protection Act) of Bill C-97, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on March 19, 2019 and other measures, the Committee meet on Tuesday, May 7: from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. for the appearance from the Minister of Border Security and Organized Crime Reduction; from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. to hear from officials from the Department of Citizenship and Immigration and from the Department of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness; from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to hear from witnesses; that the Committee meet on Wednesday, May 8, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. to hear from further witnesses and that the Committee meet on Wednesday, May 15 to consider recommendations and amendments to send to the Standing Committee on Finance.

It was agreed, — That with regards to the study of settlement services across Canada, that the Committee meet on Monday, May 6, 2019, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to consider drafting instructions.

It was agreed, — That the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship be invited to appear before the Committee, on Monday, May 27, 2019 in relation to the study of the Main Estimates, 2019-20.

At 5:17 p.m., pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the Committee continue to sit.

At 5:19 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
