Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, November 29, 2016, the Committee resumed its study of a food policy for Canada.

The Committee proceeded to give drafting instructions to the analyst for a report.
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That the Committee devote one meeting to considering the Supplementary Estimates (B) for the 2017-18 fiscal year, no later than Tuesday, December 5, 2017, provided that the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food be invited to appear during the first hour of the meeting and that his officials be invited to appear for the first and the second hour of the meeting.

It was agreed, — That the Committee begin the study on climate change issues and water and soil conservation issues, pursuant to the motion adopted on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, and that the parties submit their lists of suggested witnesses, grouped by theme, to the clerk no later than Monday, October 30, 2017, at 5:00 p.m.

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food undertakes as soon as possible a study on the role of food inspection agencies in the context of free trade agreements signed by Canada; that the Committee invite to appear the Canadian Food Inspection Agency to testify on its role in food exports and imports, and agencies or departments of signatory countries.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, the Committee resumed its study of the non-tariff trade barriers to the sale of agricultural products in relation to Free Trade Agreements.

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

At 5:33 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
