The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

Motion

By unanimous consent, David Anderson moved, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food hear from Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) officials on the Bovine Tuberculosis situation.

Debate arose thereon.

Amendment

Francis Drouin moved, — Francis Drouin moved, — That the motion be amended by adding, after the word “situation” the following: “on November 29, 2016; that the representatives of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency accompany the Minister during the discussion of the Supplementary Estimates B 2016-17; and that the Minister and CFIA officials appear for 2 hours if possible”.

The motion, as amended, read as follows:

That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food hear from Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) officials on the Bovine Tuberculosis situation on November 29, 2016; that the representatives of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency accompany the Minister during the discussion of the Supplementary Estimates B 2016-17; and that the Minister and CFIA officials appear for 2 hours if possible.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, May 2, 2016, the Committee resumed its study of the next agricultural policy framework.

Tia Loftsgard, Andrew Hammermeister, Guenette Bautz and Paul Glenn made statements and, with Marie-Ève Levert, answered questions.

At 9:47 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:53 a.m., the sitting resumed.

Keith Kuhl and Jacques Lefebvre made a statement and answered questions.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to its briefing on Bovine Tuberculosis in Alberta, the draft letter prepared pursuant to the Order adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, be adopted.

At 10:46 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
