A meeting of the Board of Internal Economy of the House of Commons was held on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 3:30 p.m., in Room 112-N, Centre Block.

In the Chair: The Honourable Andrew Scheer, Speaker of the House of Commons

Present: The Honourables Peter Van Loan, John Duncan, Rob Merrifield and Dominic LeBlanc; Mr. Philip Toone; Mrs. Nycole Turmel

Secretary to the Board: Audrey O’Brien, Clerk of the House of Commons

Also Present: Richard Denis, Deputy Law Clerk and Parliamentary Counsel; Mark Watters, Chief Financial Officer; Robin Kells, Secretariat

Call to Order

The meeting was delayed due to a vote in the Chamber. The Speaker called the meeting to order at 4:40 p.m.

Minutes of Previous Meeting

The minutes of the meeting of April 28, 2014 were adopted and approved for tabling .

Buiness Arising from Previous Meetings

The Board discussed correspondence distributed since its last meeting on April 28, 2014.

Use of House Resources

Satellite Offices – Progress Report

The Board discussed jurisdictional issues between the Board of Internal Economy and the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs in the investigation of this matter, particularly with regard to the documents and information requested of the House Administration by motion of the Committee, adopted May 6, 2014.

The Board requested that the House Administration undertake to provide specific information related to satellite offices at its next meeting of May 12, 2014.

The meeting was adjourned.
