The Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities met at 8:47 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Larry Miller, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Peter Braid, Ed Komarnicki, Hoang Mai, David J. McGuinty, Larry Miller, Isabelle Morin, Mike Sullivan, Lawrence Toet, Jeff Watson and Wai Young.

 

Acting Members present: Dave Van Kesteren for Lawrence Toet.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Allison Padova, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Federation of Canadian Municipalities: Pauline Quinlan, Co-Chair, National Municipal Rail Safety Working Group, Mayor, City of Bromont; Daniel Rubinstein, Senior Policy Advisor; Stéphane Émard-Chabot, Legal Advisor. Canadian Transportation Agency: Nina Frid, Director General, Dispute Resolution Branch; Liz Barker, General Counsel, Legal Services Branch.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, November 18, 2013, the Committee resumed its study of the review of the Canadian transportation safety regime: transportation of dangerous goods and safety management systems.
 

Pauline Quinlan and Nina Frid made statements and, with Daniel Rubinstein, Stéphane Émard-Chabot and Liz Barker, answered questions.

 

At 9:50 a.m., Hoang Mai took the Chair.

 

At 9:55 a.m., Larry Miller took the Chair.

 

At 10:40 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
