The Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities met in a televised session at 8:46 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Larry Miller, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Peter Braid, Ed Komarnicki, Hoang Mai, David J. McGuinty, Larry Miller, Isabelle Morin, Mike Sullivan, Jeff Watson and Wai Young.

Acting Members present: Ted Falk for Lawrence Toet and Pierre Lemieux for Lawrence Toet.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Zachary Alaoui, Analyst ; Allison Padova, Analyst.

Witnesses: VIA Rail Canada Inc.: Steve Del Bosco, Interim President and Chief Executive Officer; Denis Pinsonneault, Chief, Customer Experience and Operating Officer; Jean Tierney, Senior Director, Safety and Corporate Security. Unifor: Jerry Dias, National President; Brian Stevens, Director, Rail. As an individual: Mark Fleming, Professor, Department of Psychology, Saint Mary's University.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, November 18, 2013, the Committee resumed its study of the review of the Canadian transportation safety regime: transportation of dangerous goods and safety management systems.

Steve Del Bosco, Jean Tierney, Denis Pinsonneault, Jerry Dias and Mark Fleming made statements and, with Brian Stevens, answered questions.

At 10:44 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
