The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met at 11:06 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, David Sweet, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: John Carmichael, Joe Daniel, Cheryl Gallant, Hon. Mike Lake, Brian Masse, Peggy Nash, Annick Papillon, David Sweet and Mark Warawa.

 

Acting Members present: Matthew Kellway for Brian Masse and Hon. Geoff Regan for Hon. Judy Sgro.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Mathieu Frigon, Analyst; Édison Roy-César, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: National Research Council of Canada: Danial Wayner, Vice-President, Emerging Technologies; Duncan Stewart, General Manager, Security and disruptive technologies. Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada: Kevin Fitzgibbons, Associate Vice-President, Corporate Planning and Policy. Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada: Ted Hewitt, President.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, April 23, 2015, the Committee resumed its study on the state of disruptive technologies.
 

Danial Wayner, Kevin Fitzgibbons and Ted Hewitt made statements and, with Duncan Stewart, answered questions.

 

At 12:47 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:51 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $37,500, for the study on the state of disruptive technologies, be adopted.

 

At 12:52 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
