The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 7-52, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, Phil McColeman, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Scott Armstrong, Ray Boughen, Brad Butt, Rodger Cuzner, Jim Eglinski, Sadia Groguhé, Colin Mayes, Phil McColeman, Marie-Claude Morin and Jinny Jogindera Sims.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Caroline Quesnel, Analyst; Shauna Troniak, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Government of the United Kingdom: Kieron Boyle, Head, Social Investment and Finance. Vancity Credit Union: Andy Broderick, Vice-President, Community Investment, Resilient Capital. SVX: Adam Spence, Founder and Chief Executive Officer.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 5, 2015, the Committee resumed its study on exploring the potential of social finance in Canada.
 

Kieron Boyle, by videoconference from Westminster, United Kingdom, made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 4:05, Jinny Jogindera Sims took the Chair.

 

At 4:27 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:30 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Andy Broderick and Adam Spence, by videoconference from Toronto, Ontario, made statements.

 

At 4:46, Phil McColeman took the Chair.

 

The witnesses answered questions.

 

At 5:10 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
