The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 228, The Valour Building, the Chair, Phil McColeman, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Scott Armstrong, Ray Boughen, Brad Butt, Jim Eglinski, Sadia Groguhé, Colin Mayes, Phil McColeman, Marie-Claude Morin and Jinny Jogindera Sims.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Mark Eyking for Rodger Cuzner.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Caroline Quesnel, Analyst; Shauna Troniak, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: National Association of Friendship Centres: Jeffrey Cyr, Executive Director; Yancy Craig, Director. Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society: Éric Hébert-Daly, National Executive Director, National Office. Northern Development Initiative Trust: Evan Saugstad, Chair.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 5, 2015, the Committee resumed its study on exploring the potential of social finance in Canada.
 

Jeffrey Cyr, Éric Hébert-Daly and Evan Saugstad, by videoconference from Vancouver, British Columbia, made statements and answered questions.

 

Jinny Jogindera Sims moved, — That the Committee invite the Minister of Employment and Social Development to testify for a two (2) hour televised meeting related to the referral of the Main Estimates 2015-16 and that this meeting take place at the latest on May 28, 2015.

 

Scott Armstrong moved, — That the Committee proceed to sit in camera.

 

By unanimous consent, both Scott Armstrong's and Jinny Jogindera Sims' motion were withdrawn.

 

The Committee resumed questioning of the witnesses

 

At 4:30 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:35 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee invite the Minister of Employment and Social Development to testify for one (1) hour televised meeting related to the referral of the Main Estimates 2015-16 and that this meeting take place at the latest on Thursday May 28, 2015.

 

At 4:44 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
