The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 8:45 a.m. this day, in Room 8-53, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, Phil McColeman, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Scott Armstrong, Tarik Brahmi, Brad Butt, Rodger Cuzner, Sadia Groguhé, Larry Maguire, Colin Mayes, Phil McColeman, Cathy McLeod and Jinny Jogindera Sims.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Isabelle Lafontaine-Émond, Analyst; Édison Roy-César, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Library of Parliament: Jean-Denis Fréchette, Parliamentary Budget Officer; Mostafa Askari, Assistant Parliamentary Budget Officer, Economic and Fiscal Analysis. Canadian Construction Association: Michael Atkinson, President. Cameco Corporation: Sean Junor, Manager, Workforce Planning and Talent Acquisition, Human Resources.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the deadline for submitting an application and presenting a project proposal for the 2014 Centennial Flame Research Award be extended to Monday, June 30, 2014.

 

It was agreed, — That the deadline for the submission of the 2013 Centennial Flame Research Award report, awarded to Sara Carleton on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, be extended to Friday, July 11, 2014; and that the second installment of the award payment be held in trust by the Clerk to be sent to the recipient upon receipt of the report.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, the Committee resumed its study of the renewal of the Labour Market Development Agreements (LMDA).
 

Jean-Denis Fréchette made a statement and, with the Mostafa Askari, answered questions.

 

At 9:29 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:35 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Michael Atkinson and, by videoconference from Saskatoon, Sakatchewan, Sean Junor made statements and answered questions.

 

At 10:11 a.m., by unanimous consent and pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the Committee continue to sit.

 

At 10:17 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
