The Standing Committee on Finance met in a televised session at 8:47 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, James Rajotte, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Mark Adler, Joyce Bateman, Hon. Scott Brison, Hon. Ron Cannan, Raymond Côté, Nathan Cullen, Pierre Dionne Labelle, James Rajotte, Andrew Saxton and Dave Van Kesteren.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Mark Mahabir, Analyst.

Witnesses: As an individual: Frances Woolley, Professor, Carleton University. Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives: David Macdonald, Senior Economist, National Office. Canadian Federation of Independent Business: Corinne Pohlmann, Senior Vice-President, National Affairs. Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters: Martin Lavoie, Director, Policy, Innovation and Business Taxation. Conference for Advanced Life Underwriting: Terry Zive, Chair, Government Relations. As individuals: Jason Heath; Alexandre Laurin, Director of Research, C.D. Howe Institute. Canadian Taxpayers Federation: Aaron Wudrick, Federal Director. Macdonald-Laurier Institute: Philip Cross, Senior Fellow. YWCA Canada: Ann Decter, Director, Advocacy and Public Policy.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Monday, May 25, 2015, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-59, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on April 21, 2015 and other measures.

Frances Woolley, David Macdonald, Corinne Pohlmann, Martin Lavoie and Terry Zive made statements and answered questions.

At 10:12 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:19 a.m., the sitting resumed.

Jason Health, Alexandre Laurin, Aaron Wudrick, Philip Cross and Ann Decter made statements and answered questions.

At 11:45 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
