The Standing Committee on Finance met at 8:46 a.m. this day, in Room C-110, 1 Wellington Street, the Chair, James Rajotte, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Mark Adler, Joyce Bateman, Hon. Scott Brison, Hon. Ron Cannan, Raymond Côté, Nathan Cullen, Pierre Dionne Labelle, James Rajotte, Andrew Saxton and Dave Van Kesteren.

Acting Members present: Guy Caron for Nathan Cullen and Emmanuel Dubourg for Hon. Scott Brison.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Mark Mahabir, Analyst.

Witnesses: Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers: Tim McMillan, President and Chief Executive Officer. Canadian Fuels Association: Peter Boag, President and Chief Executive Officer. Encana Corporation: Richard Dunn, Vice-President, Canadian Government Relations. Suncor Energy Inc.: Steve Reynish, Executive Vice-President, Strategy and Corporate Development. Alberta Federation of Labour: Gil McGowan, President. As an individual: Andrew Leach, Associate Professor, Alberta School of Business, University of Alberta. Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 26, 2015, the Committee commenced its study of the Impact of Low Oil Prices on the Canadian Economy.

Tim McMillan, Peter Boag, Richard Dunn, Steve Reynish and Gil McGowan, by videoconference from Edmonton, Alberta, made statements and answered questions.

At 10:16 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:20 a.m., the sitting resumed.

Andrew Leach, Andrea Kent, Rob Schaefer and David McLellan made statements and answered questions.

At 11:41 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
