The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 228, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Hélène LeBlanc, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Stella Ambler, Niki Ashton, Joan Crockatt, Kirsty Duncan, Hélène LeBlanc, Tilly O'Neill Gordon, Djaouida Sellah, Susan Truppe, Terence Young and Wai Young.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Martha Butler, Analyst; Laura Munn-Rivard, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Industry: Shereen Benzvy Miller, Assistant Deputy Minister, Small Business, Tourism and Marketplace Services; Dan Batista, Senior Director, Service Delivery and Partnerships. Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency: Daryell Nowlan, Vice-President, Policy and Programs. Business Development Bank of Canada: Gina Gale, Senior Vice-President, Financing and Consulting, Atlantic; Julia Fournier, President and Chief Executive Officer, HCMWorks Inc.. Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada: Michèle Boutin, Executive Director, Canada Research Chairs Program; Alison M. Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, March 31, 2014, the Committee resumed its study of economic leadership and prosperity of Canadian women.
 

Alison M. Konrad, by videoconference from London, Ontario, Shereen Benzvy Miller, Daryell Nowlan, Gina Gale, Julia Fournier, Michèle Boutin and Catherine Elliott, made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:29 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
