The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 228, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Hélène LeBlanc, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Stella Ambler, Niki Ashton, Joan Crockatt, Hélène LeBlanc, Tilly O'Neill Gordon, Djaouida Sellah, Susan Truppe and Terence Young.

 

Acting Members present: Corneliu Chisu for Wai Young and Lise St-Denis for Kirsty Duncan.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Martha Butler, Analyst; Laura Munn-Rivard, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: As an Individual: Patricia Lemoine. University of Ottawa: Valerie Steeves, Associate Professor. Families Empowered and Supporting Treatment of Eating Disorders Canada Task Force: Laura Beattie, Co-chair. Alyssa Stevenson Eating Disorder Memorial Trust: Elaine Stevenson, Co-Administrator.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That, once the Report on Plans and Priorities has been tabled, the Committee invite the Minister of Status of Women to appear before the Committee no later than April 30, 2014, with respect to the 2014–15 Main Estimates; that the Minister appear for no more than one hour; that senior officials be invited to appear after her during the second hour; and that this meeting be televised, if possible.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, November 19, 2013, the Committee resumed its study of eating disorders amongst girls and women.
 

Laura Beattie, by videoconference from Guelph, Ontario, Elaine Stevenson, by videoconference from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Patricia Lemoine and Valerie Steeves, made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
