The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development met in camera at 11:09 a.m. this day, in Room 306, The Valour Building, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dean Allison, Lois Brown, Paul Dewar, Marc Garneau, Peter Goldring, Hon. Laurie Hawn, Hélène Laverdière, Romeo Saganash, Gary Ralph Schellenberger and Bernard Trottier.

 

Associate Members present: Scott Reid.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Allison Goody, Analyst; Brian Hermon, Analyst; Erin Shaw, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) the Committee undertook a study of the report on the human rights situation in Honduras, adopted on Tuesday, February 17, 2015, by the Subcommittee on International Human Rights.
 

The Committee commenced consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "Overcoming Violence and Impunity: Human Rights Challenges in Honduras".

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee append to its report dissenting and/or supplementary opinions, immediately after the signature of the Chair, provided that they are submitted electronically, in both official languages, to the Clerk of the Committee, no later than 12:00 noon on Wednesday, March 25, 2015.

 

It was agreed, — That the analysts and the Clerk, in consultation with the Chair, prepare a news release for publication on the Committee’s website and for distribution upon presentation of the report to the House.

 

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

 

At 11:38 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 11:42 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, November 4, 2014, the Committee resumed its study of Canada's Response to the Violence, Religious Persecution and Dislocation Caused by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
 

The Committee commenced consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "Canada’s Response to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL)".

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee append to its report dissenting and/or supplementary opinions, immediately after the signature of the Chair, provided that they be submitted electronically, in both official languages, to the Clerk of the Committee, no later than 12:00 noon on Thursday, March 26, 2015.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

At 12:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
