The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development met at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 306, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Harold Albrecht, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Harold Albrecht, Colin Carrie, François Choquette, Mylène Freeman, Robert Sopuck, Lawrence Toet and Stephen Woodworth.

 

Acting Members present: Kirsty Duncan for Hon. John McKay, Laurin Liu for Dennis Bevington and Kyle Seeback for Brian Storseth.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Penny Becklumb, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment: Michael Goeres, Executive Director. Federation of Canadian Municipalities: Raymond Louie, First Vice-President. Highland Creek Treatment Plant: Frank Moir, Co-Chair, Neighbourhood Liaison Committee. Island Waste Management Corporation: Gerry Moore, Chief Executive Officer.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, May 8, 2014, the Committee resumed its study of the management of municipal solid waste and industrial materials.
 

Michael Goeres, Frank Moir, Raymond Louie and Gerry Moore made statements and answered questions.

 

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $ 9,900.00 for the study of the management of municipal solid waste and industrial materials, be adopted.

 

At 5:27 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
