The Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration met in camera at 8:45 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, David Tilson, presiding.


Members of the Committee present: Lysane Blanchette-Lamothe, Jim Eglinski, Chungsen Leung, Irene Mathyssen, Hon. John McCallum, Costas Menegakis, Devinder Shory and David Tilson.


Acting Members present: Corneliu Chisu for Jay Aspin.


In attendance: Library of Parliament: Julie Béchard, Analyst; Sandra Elgersma, Analyst.


Witnesses: Department of Citizenship and Immigration: Wilma Vreeswijk, Acting Deputy Minister; Tony Matson, Assistant Deputy Minister and Chief Financial Officer; Catrina Tapley, Assistant Deputy Minister, Strategic and Program Policy; Robert Orr, Assistant Deputy Minister, Operations.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

At 8:48 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 8:49 a.m., the sitting resumed in public.

Pursuant to Standing Order 81(5), the Committee commenced consideration of the Supplementary Estimates (C) 2014-15: Votes 1c and 5c under CITIZENSHIP AND IMMIGRATION, referred to the Committee on Thursday, February 19, 2015.

The Chair called Vote 1c under CITIZENSHIP AND IMMIGRATION.


Wilma Vreeswijk made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.


John McCallum moved, — That the Committee instruct the Chair to translate and distribute the document provided to the Clerk by Mr. McCallum on February 26, 2015, no later than March 24, 2015.


The Chair ruled the motion out of order as it was identical to an earlier motion which was previously ruled out of order.


The Chair called Vote 5c under CITIZENSHIP AND IMMIGRATION.


Votes 1c and 5c under CITIZENSHIP AND IMMIGRATION carried.


ORDERED, — That the Chair report Votes 1c and 5c under CITIZENSHIP AND IMMIGRATION to the House.


At 9:44 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
