The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 3:29 p.m. this day, in Room 8-53, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, Bev Shipley, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Malcolm Allen, Ruth Ellen Brosseau, Earl Dreeshen, Hon. Mark Eyking, Gerald Keddy, Larry Maguire, LaVar Payne, Francine Raynault, Bev Shipley and Bob Zimmer.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Frédéric Forge, Analyst; Khamla Heminthavong, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Food Inspection Agency: Paul Mayers, Vice-President, Policy and Programs. Department of Agriculture and Agri-Food: Greg Meredith, Assistant Deputy Minister, Strategic Policy Branch; Frédéric Seppey, Chief Agriculture Negotiator and Director General, Trade Agreements and Negotiations Directorate, Markets and Industry Services Branch.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 5, 2015, the Committee commenced its study of promoting domestic trade of agricultural and agri-food products by reducing interprovincial barriers.
 

Frédéric Seppey and Paul Mayers made statements and, with Greg Meredith, answered questions.

 

On motion of Earl Dreeshen, it was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $17,100.00 for the study of Promoting Domestic Trade of Agricultural and Agri-Food Products by Reducing Interprovincial Barriers, be adopted.

 

At 5:19 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
