The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 11:03 a.m. this day, in Room 8-53, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, Bev Shipley, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Malcolm Allen, Ruth Ellen Brosseau, Earl Dreeshen, Hon. Mark Eyking, Randy Hoback, Pierre Lemieux, LaVar Payne, Francine Raynault, Bev Shipley and Bob Zimmer.

Acting Members present: Mike Wallace for Earl Dreeshen.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Khamla Heminthavong, Analyst ; Frédéric Forge, Analyst.

Witnesses: Canadian Agri-Food Trade Alliance: Claire Citeau, Executive Director; Ron Davidson, Director. Agri-Food Export Group Quebec-Canada: André A. Coutu, Chief Executive Officer; Raymond Dupuis, Economist and Strategic Advisor. Alberta Barley: Matt Sawyer, Chair; Erin Gowriluk, Manager, Government Relations and Policy. Canadian Meat Council: James Laws, Executive Director. Canadian Sugar Institute: Sandra Marsden, President. Canadian Pork Council: William Wymenga, First Vice-Chair; Ian Thomson, International Trade Advisor.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, November 19, 2014 and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, the Committee commenced consideration of the Order of the House respecting the referral of the First Report of the Committee.

Claire Citeau, Matt Sawyer, Erin Gowriluk and James Laws made statements and, with Ron Davidson, answered questions.

At 12:00 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:03 p.m., the sitting resumed.

William Wymenga, by videoconference from London, Ontario, Sandra Marsden, by videoconference from Toronto, Ontario, André A. Coutu and Raymond Dupuis made statements and with, Ian Thomson, answered questions.

Randy Hoback moved, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $12,300.00 for the study of the Order of the House Referring Back the First Report of the Committee, be adopted.

Debate arose thereon.

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 5; NAYS: 3.

At 12:59 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
