The Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities met in a televised session at 4:17 p.m. this day, in Room C-110, 1 Wellington Street, the Chair, Larry Miller, presiding.


Members of the Committee present: Mark Adler, Robert Aubin, Olivia Chow, Joe Daniel, Ed Holder, David J. McGuinty, Larry Miller, Isabelle Morin, Pierre Poilievre, Mike Sullivan, Lawrence Toet and Jeff Watson.


Acting Members present: Chris Charlton for Olivia Chow.


In attendance: Library of Parliament: Zachary Alaoui, Analyst.


Witnesses: As an individual: Michael Harris, MPP Kitchener-Conestoga, Legislative Assembly of Ontario. Melloul-Blamey Construction Inc.: David McDonald, Spokesperson.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on September 26, 2011, the Committee resumed its study on how competition can make Infrastructure dollars go further.

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

Pursuant to Standing Order 106(2), the Clerk of the Committee proceeded to the election of a Vice-Chair.

On motion of Jeff Watson, it was agreed, — That David McGuinty be elected Second Vice-Chair of the Committee.


Chris Charlton moved, — That the Committee invite the Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities to defend the Supplementary Estimates (A) 2013-14 and the Committee study these estimates prior to three (3) sitting days before Tuesday, June 18, 2013 .


The question was put on the motion and it was negatived, by a show of hands: YEAS: 5; NAYS: 6.


At 5:26 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
