The Subcommittee on International Human Rights of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development met in camera at 1:52 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Scott Reid, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Nina Grewal, Russ Hiebert, Wayne Marston, Ève Péclet, Scott Reid and David Sweet.

 

Acting Members present: Sean Casey for Hon. Irwin Cotler.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Melissa Radford, Analyst; Charlotte Landry, Research Assistant.

 
The Subcommittee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Subcommittee business.
 

It was agreed, — That specific references made by the witnesses who appeared before the Subcommittee on Tuesday, February 14, 2012, be considered to have been delivered in camera and be struck from any public record of the meeting including the printed evidence, evidence posted on the Subcommittee’s website, and any audio recording of the meeting; and that the Clerk be instructed to remove the specific references.

 

It was agreed, — That the Subcommittee invite senior officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade to appear before it at two meetings to update the Subcommittee on the current situation in the study of sexual violence against women used systematically as a weapon of war in the Democratic Republic of Congo and that the first meeting be held on Thursday, March 1, 2012 and the second meeting be held later in the spring.

 

It was agreed, — That Mr. Mingli Lin be invited to appear before the Subcommittee.

 

It was agreed, — That the Subcommittee invite a Human Rights Delegation from the Philippines on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 or Thursday, April 5, 2012, subject to availability.

 

At 2:00 p.m., Wayne Marston took the Chair.

 

At 2:02 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
