The Standing Committee on Natural Resources met in a video recorded session at 8:45 a.m. this day, in Room 268, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Leon Benoit, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: David Anderson, Leon Benoit, Blaine Calkins, Anne-Marie Day, Royal Galipeau, Claude Gravelle, David J. McGuinty, Kennedy Stewart and Brad Trost.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Laurie Hawn for Mike Allen, Brian Jean for Joe Daniel and Ève Péclet for François Lapointe.

 

Other Members present: Elizabeth May.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Luc Bourdages, Analyst; Mohamed Zakzouk, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: As an individual: Vivian Krause. Mackenzie Valley Aboriginal Pipeline LP: Robert Reid, President. National Energy Board: Gaétan Caron, Chair and CEO; Iain Colquhoun, Chief Engineer; Patrick Smyth, Business Unit Leader, Operations.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on December 14, 2011, the Committee resumed its study on the current and future state of oil and gas pipelines and refining capacity in Canada.
 

Vivian Krause, Robert Reid and Gaétan Caron made statements and answered questions.

 

On motion of Claude Gravelle, it was agreed, — That, not withstanding the motion of December 14, 2011, the Committee meet on February 28, 2012, to commence the consideration of a draft report in relation to its study on the current and future state of oil and gas pipelines and refining capacity in Canada; and, that the final report be tabled to the House.

 

At 10:43 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
