Meeting No. 2

Monday, June 13, 2011

The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met in camera at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room C-110, 1 Wellington Street, the Chair, Pat Martin, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Scott Armstrong, Denis Blanchette, Kelly Block, Alexandre Boulerice, Peter Braid, Ron Cannan, Jacques Gourde, Pat Martin, Hon. John McCallum, Bernard Trottier and Mike Wallace.

Acting Members present: Brian Masse for Nycole Turmel.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Édison Roy-César, Analyst ; Maxime-Olivier Thibodeau, Analyst.

Witnesses: Treasury Board Secretariat: Bill Matthews, Assistant Secretary, Expenditure Management; Sally Thornton, Executive Director, Expenditure Operations and Estimates, Expenditure Management; Steve Tremblay, Director, Strategic Review, Expenditure Management; Kenneth Wheat, Senior Director, Estimates, Expenditure Management.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee commenced a briefing on the estimates process.

It was agreed, — That a Parliamentary Relations Officer from the Treasury Board Secretariat be permitted to remain in the room for the current in camera meeting.

It was agreed, — That the Minister of Health and the President of the Treasury Board be invited to appear on Monday, June 20, 2011, from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., respectively, to discuss the 2011-2012 Main Estimates for these departments, as well as their Supplementary Estimates (A), if so; and that both ministers be accompanied by the relevant officials.

At 5:02 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
