The Standing Committee on National Defence met at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Chair, James Bezan, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Chris Alexander, James Bezan, Tarik Brahmi, Corneliu Chisu, Cheryl Gallant, Jack Harris, Matthew Kellway, Hon. John McKay, Christine Moore, Rick Norlock, Ted Opitz and Mark Strahl.

 

Acting Members present: Kelly Block for Chris Alexander.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Wolfgang Koerner, Analyst; Melissa Radford, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: As an individual: Marie Josée Hull, Clinical Social Worker. Department of National Defence: Col Scott McLeod, Director of Mental Health, Canadian Forces Health Services. Vanderbrook Farm: Alison Vandergragt, Program Director, Hope Reins Equine Assisted Therapy Programs.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

The Chair presented the Third Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure. The Report was concurred in and read as follows:

Your Subcommittee met on Tuesday, October 30, 2012, to consider the business of the Committee and agreed to make the following recommendation:

That, on Thursday, November 20, 2012, the Committee resume consideration of a draft report on Maintaining the Readiness of the Canadian Forces, and that members submit further recommendations to the draft report to the clerk no later than Thursday, November 1, 2012.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, September 29, 2011, the Committee resumed its study of the Care of Ill and Injured Canadian Forces Members
 

Col Scott McLeod, Marie Josée Hull and Alison Vandergragt made statements and answered questions.

 

At 5:27 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
