The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met at 8:46 a.m. this day, in Room 8-53, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, David Sweet, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Peter Braid, John Carmichael, Cheryl Gallant, Dan Harris, Mike Lake, Hélène LeBlanc, Brian Masse, Phil McColeman, Hon. Geoff Regan, Kennedy Stewart and David Sweet.

 

Acting Members present: Harold Albrecht for Lee Richardson.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Mathieu Frigon, Analyst; Dillan Theckedath, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Dalhousie University: Erica Fraser, Manager, Technology Commercialization, Engineering/Sciences, Industry Liaison and Innovation. Bubble Technology Industries Inc.: Lianne Ing, Vice-President. As individuals: Marc-André Gagnon, Assistant Professor, School of Public Policy and Administration, Carleton University; Ian Hargreaves, Professor, Digital Economy, Cardiff University.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, May 1st, 2012, the Committee resumed its study of the Intellectual Property Regime in Canada.
 

Ian Hargreaves, by videoconference from London, United Kingdom, Erica Fraser, Lianne Ing and Marc-André Gagnon made statements and answered questions.

 

On motion of John Carmichael, it was agreed, — That in relation to the study of the Intellectual Regime in Canada, the proposed supplementary budget in the amount of $ 2 600 be adopted.

 

At 10:44 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
