The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met at 8:45 a.m. this day, in Room 8-53, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, David Sweet, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Peter Braid, John Carmichael, Cheryl Gallant, Dan Harris, Mike Lake, Hélène LeBlanc, Brian Masse, Phil McColeman, Hon. Geoff Regan, Lee Richardson and David Sweet.

Acting Members present: Denis Blanchette for Kennedy Stewart and Sadia Groguhé for Kennedy Stewart.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Mathieu Frigon, Analyst ; Dillan Theckedath, Analyst.

Witnesses: As individuals: Ruth M. Corbin, Managing Partner and Chief Executive Officer, CorbinPartners Inc.; Jeremy de Beer, Associate Professor, Faculty of Law, University of Ottawa. Intellectual Property Institute of Canada: Mark Eisen, President; Michel Gérin, Executive Director. Canadian Intellectual Property Council: Graham Henderson, Co-chair.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, May 1, 2012, the Committee resumed its study of the Intellectual Property Regime in Canada.

Graham Henderson, Michel Gérin, Mark Eisen, Ruth M. Corbin and Jeremy de Beer made statements and answered questions.

At 10:27 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:31 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of the Intellectual Property Regime in Canada, the proposed budget in the amount of $ 6, 600.00 be adopted.

At 10:36 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
