The Standing Committee on Health met in a video recorded session at 2:00 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Joy Smith, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Kelly Block, Colin Carrie, Libby Davies, Parm Gill, Djaouida Sellah, Joy Smith and John Williamson.

Acting Members present: Mark Adler for Patrick Brown, Lysane Blanchette-Lamothe for Anne Minh-Thu Quach, Jonathan Genest-Jourdain for Dany Morin, Ryan Leef for Mark Strahl and Francis Scarpaleggia for Hon. Hedy Fry.

In attendance: House of Commons: Marie-France Renaud, Procedural Clerk . Library of Parliament: Raphaelle Deraspe, Analyst ; Sonya Norris, Analyst.

Pursuant to Standing Order 106(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the request by four (4) members of the Committee to undertake a study of the funding of health care.

Libby Davies moved, — That the Committee undertake a study, as soon as possible, to review recent health care funding outlined by the federal government and the response of the Premiers; that it hold at least two (2) meetings on this study to hear from witnesses; and that it report its findings to the House of Commons.

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was negatived on the following recorded division: YEAS: Lysane Blanchette-Lamothe, Libby Davies, Jonathan Genest-Jourdain, Francis Scarpaleggia, Djaouida Sellah — 5; NAYS: Mark Adler, Kelly Block, Colin Carrie, Parm Gill, Ryan Leef, John Williamson — 6.

At 2:31 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
