The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met in a televised session at 8:47 a.m. this day, in Room C-110, 1 Wellington Street, the Chair, Marie-Claude Morin, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Stella Ambler, Niki Ashton, Jay Aspin, Joyce Bateman, Anne-Marie Day, Sana Hassainia, Marie-Claude Morin, Tilly O'Neill Gordon, Hon. Judy Sgro, Susan Truppe and Wai Young.

 

Acting Members present: Brad Trost for Roxanne James.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Havi Echenberg, Analyst; Laura Munn-Rivard, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Royal Canadian Mounted Police: C/Supt Sharon Woodburn, Director General, Workforce Programs and Services; Supt Michael O'Rielly, Director, Legislative Reform Initiative. Royal Canadian Mounted Police External Review Committee: Catherine Ebbs, Chair; David Paradiso, Executive Director and Senior Counsel.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, the Committee commenced its study of sexual harassment in the federal workplace.
 

C/Supt Sharon Woodburn made a statement and, with Supt Michael O'Rielly, answered questions.

 

At 9:40 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:44 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Catherine Ebbs made a statement and, with David Paradiso, answered questions.

 

At 10:36 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:37 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That representatives of the Canada School of Public Service be invited to appear on Tuesday, November 27, 2012, to provide a briefing in the context of the committee’s study of sexual harassment in the federal workplace.

 

It was agreed, — That the proposed operational budget in the amount of $18,000 for the study of sexual harassment in the federal workplace be adopted.

 

At 10:47 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
