The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met in camera at 3:36 p.m. this day, in Room 228, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Irene Mathyssen, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dan Albas, Stella Ambler, Joyce Bateman, Marjolaine Boutin-Sweet, Ruth Ellen Brosseau, Mylène Freeman, Roxanne James, Irene Mathyssen, Hon. Judy Sgro and Susan Truppe.

 

Acting Members present: Ray Boughen for Wai Young.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Havi Echenberg, Analyst; Laura Munn-Rivard, Analyst. House of Commons: Michelle Tittley, Procedural Clerk.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure meet on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. to consider the work plan for the study of improving economic prospects for Canadian girls, and that the Standing Committee meet from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. to approve the work plan.

 

It was agreed, — That Senior Officials from Status of Women Canada be invited to appear before the Committee on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 to provide a briefing on the Agency's plans and initiatives as they relate to the study of improving economic prospects for Canadian girls.

 

At 4:02 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:02 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, September 29, 2011, the Committee resumed its study of abuse of older women.
 

It was agreed, — That the analysts be tasked with preparing a draft report on the study of abuse of older women and that the Committee start the consideration of the draft report at the meeting scheduled for Monday, February 27, 2012.

 

At 4:09 p.m., by unanimous consent and pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the Committee continue to sit for an additional 5 minutes.

 

At 4:14 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
