The Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics met in a televised session at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Pierre-Luc Dusseault, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Scott Andrews, Charlie Angus, Charmaine Borg, Alexandre Boulerice, Brad Butt, John Carmichael, Patricia Davidson, Earl Dreeshen, Pierre-Luc Dusseault and Colin Mayes.

 

Acting Members present: Chris Warkentin for Dean Del Mastro.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Miguel Bernal-Castillero, Analyst; Maxime-Olivier Thibodeau, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Office of the Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner: Nancy Bélanger, General Counsel; Mary Dawson, Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner; Annie Plouffe, Manager, Advisory and Compliance. University of Ottawa: Adam Dodek, Professor, Common Law Section.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Monday, December 10, 2012, section 67 of the Conflict of Interest Act, and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, December 11, 2012, the Committee resumed the statutory review of the Conflict of Interest Act.
 

Adam Dodek made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 4:27 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:30 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Mary Dawson made a statement and answered questions.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

Chris Warkentin moved, — That the Committee proceed to sit in camera.

 

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to on the following recorded division: YEAS: Brad Butt, John Carmichael, Patricia Davidson, Earl Dreeshen, Colin Mayes, Chris Warkentin — 6; NAYS: Scott Andrews, Charlie Angus, Charmaine Borg, Alexandre Boulerice — 4.

 

At 5:20 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:21 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 

At 5:23 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
