The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development met at 8:44 a.m. this day, in Room 268, La Promenade Building, the chair, Harold Albrecht, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Harold Albrecht, François Choquette, Megan Anissa Leslie, James Lunney, François Pilon, Anne Minh-Thu Quach, Michelle Rempel, Robert Sopuck, Lawrence Toet and Stephen Woodworth.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Geoff Regan for Kirsty Duncan and Mike Wallace for Brian Storseth.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Penny Becklumb, Analyst; Jed Chong, Research Assistant.

 

Witnesses: Department of the Environment: Robert McLean, Executive Director, Wildlife Program Policy. Parks Canada: Rob Prosper, Vice-President, Protected Area Establishment and Conservation.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 14, 2013, the Committee commenced its study on habitat conservation in Canada.
 

Robert McLean and Rob Prosper made statements and answered questions.

 

At 10:11 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:14 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, October 1, 2012, the Committee resumed its study of urban conservation practices in Canada.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

At 10:25 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:26 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted unanimously.

 

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "Urban Conservation Practices in Canada".

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and Analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee append to its report supplementary opinions, immediately after the signature of the Chair, provided that they are no more than two (2) pages in length and be submitted electronically, in both official languages, to the Clerk of the Committee, no later than 4:00 p.m. on Monday, April 15, 2013.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

 

At 10:37 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
