The Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development met at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 306, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Mark Warawa, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Stella Ambler, François Choquette, Kirsty Duncan, Megan Anissa Leslie, Laurin Liu, James Lunney, François Pilon, Michelle Rempel, Robert Sopuck, Lawrence Toet, Mark Warawa and Stephen Woodworth.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Penny Becklumb, Analyst; Tim Williams, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Boreal Forest Agreement: Monte Hummel, Chair. National Aboriginal Forestry Association: Bradley Young, Senior Policy Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, January 31, 2012, the Committee resumed its study to provide recommendations regarding the development of a national conservation plan.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

Laurin Liu moved, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee hear Dan Wicklum, Chief Executive of Canada’s Oil Sands Innovation Alliance, no later than on Thursday, April 5, 2012.

Debate arose thereon.

 

Michelle Rempel moved, — That the Committee proceed to sit in camera.

 

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to on the following recorded division: YEAS: Stella Ambler, James Lunney, Michelle Rempel, Robert Sopuck, Lawrence Toet, Stephen Woodworth — 6; NAYS: François Choquette, Kirsty Duncan, Megan Anissa Leslie, Laurin Liu, François Pilon — 5.

 

At 4:57 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:00 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee hear from Canada’s Oil Sands Innovation Alliance, to discuss the anticipated positive environmental outcomes of their mandate at their earliest convenience.

 

At 5:18 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
