The Standing Committee on International Trade met at 11:01 a.m. this day, in Room 268, La Promenade Building, the Chair, the Hon. Rob Merrifield, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Ron Cannan, Don Davies, Hon. Wayne Easter, Russ Hiebert, Ed Holder, Hon. Rob Merrifield, Marc-André Morin, Annick Papillon, Jasbir Sandhu, Bev Shipley and Devinder Shory.

 

Acting Members present: Mike Wallace for Gerald Keddy.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Alexandre Gauthier, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Council of Chief Executives: Sam Boutziouvis, Vice-President, Policy, International and Fiscal Issues. Food Secure Canada: Paul Slomp, Representative, Youth Vice President, National Farmers Union; Diana Bronson, Executive Director. Canadian Canola Growers Association: Richard White, General Manager. As an individual: Julian Dierkes, Centre for Japanese Research, Institute of Asian Research, University of British Colombia.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, April 24, 2012, the Committee resumed its study of a comprehensive and high-level economic partnership agreement (EPA) with Japan.
 

Sam Boutziouvis and Paul Slomp made statements and, with Diana Bronson, answered questions.

 

At 11:59 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:01 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Richard White, by videoconference from Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Julian Dierkes, by videoconference from Vancouver, British-Colombia, made statements and answered questions.

 

At 12:54 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:56 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

At 12:58 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
