The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met by videoconference at 8:49 a.m. this day, in Room 8-53, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, the Hon. Rob Moore, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Scott Armstrong, Tyrone Benskin, Marjolaine Boutin-Sweet, Gordon Brown, Paul Calandra, Andrew Cash, Parm Gill, Jim Hillyer, Hon. Rob Moore, Pierre Nantel, Scott Simms and Terence Young.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Michael Dewing, Analyst; Marion Ménard, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Coastal Jazz and Blues Society: Fatima Amarshi, Executive Director. Banff Centre: Sarah J.E. Iley, Vice-President, Programming. Stratford Shakespeare Festival: Anita Gaffney, Administrative Director. Luminato, Toronto Festival of Arts and Creativity: Janice Price, Chief Executive Officer.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, September 27, 2011, the Committee resumed its study of Canada's 150th anniversary in 2017.
 

Anita Gaffney, Janice Price, Sarah J.E. Iley, by videoconference from Banff, Alberta, and Fatima Amarshi, by videoconference from Vancouver, British Columbia, made statements and answered questions.

 

At 10:32 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:34 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $35,650.00 for the Committee's study of Canada's 150th anniversary in 2017 be adopted.

 

At 10:47 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
