The Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security met in a televised session at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Garry Breitkreuz, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Garry Breitkreuz, Don Davies, Luc Desnoyers, Shelly Glover, Andrew Kania, Dave MacKenzie, Phil McColeman, Maria Mourani, Rick Norlock, Brent Rathgeber and Borys Wrzesnewskyj.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Ken Dryden for Mark Holland.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lyne Casavant.

 

Witnesses: Royal Canadian Mounted Police: C/Supt Larry Tremblay, National Security Criminal Operations, National Security Criminal Investigations. Department of Transport: Gerard McDonald, Safety and Security; Laureen Kinney, Aviation Security Directorate. Department of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness: Kristina Namiesniowski. Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada: Chantal Bernier; Carman Baggaley. International Civil Liberties Monitoring Group: Roch Tassé. British Columbia Civil Liberties Association: Micheal Vonn.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to a briefing on the Passenger Protect Program and the U.S. No-fly List.
 

Gerard McDonald made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 4:32 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:35 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Chantal Bernier, Roch Tassé and Micheal Vonn made statements and, with Carman Baggaley, answered questions.

 

Maria Mourani gave notice of the following motion:

That the Committee consider a report to the House on the subject-matter of the Passenger Protect Program and the U.S. No-fly List.

 

At 5:35 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
