The Subcommittee on International Human Rights of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development met at 1:06 p.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, for the purpose of electing a Chair, pursuant to Standing Order 106(1).

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Hon. Irwin Cotler, Johanne Deschamps, Russ Hiebert, Wayne Marston, Scott Reid, Mario Silva and David Sweet.

 

In attendance: House of Commons: Julie Lalande Prud'homme, Procedural Clerk. Library of Parliament: Melissa Radford, Analyst.

 
The Clerk of the Subcommittee presided over the election of a Chair.
 

On motion of Mario Silva, it was agreed, — That Scott Reid be elected Chair of the Subcommittee.

 

By unanimous consent, the Clerk of the Subcommittee presided over the election of the Vice-Chairs.

 

On motion of David Sweet, it was agreed, — That Mario Silva be elected First Vice-Chair of the Subcommittee.

 

On motion of Wayne Marston, it was agreed, — That Johanne Deschamps be elected Second Vice-Chair of the Subcommittee.

 

Scott Reid took the Chair.

 

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That the Committee continue to meet on Tuesday and Thursday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. until further notice.

 

At 1:20 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 1:21 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
By unanimous consent, the Subcommittee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Subcommittee business.
 

It was agreed, — That members send their suggestions for potential studies to the Clerk of the Subcommittee.

 

It was agreed, — That the next meeting of the Subcommittee be dedicated to consider future business.

 

At 2:00 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
