The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met in a televised session at 11:01 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, the Hon. John McKay, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Diane Bourgeois, Paul Calandra, Ron Cannan, Siobhan Coady, Jacques Gourde, Ed Holder, Pat Martin, Hon. John McKay and Hon. Geoff Regan.

 

Acting Members present: Patricia Davidson for Chris Warkentin and Marc Lemay for Robert Vincent.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Édison Roy-César, Analyst.

 

Appearing: Hon. Peter Milliken, Speaker of the House of Commons.

 

Witnesses: Office of the Auditor General of Canada: Sheila Fraser, Auditor General of Canada; Sylvain Ricard, Assistant Auditor General. House of Commons: Audrey O'Brien, Clerk of the House of Commons.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(c)(i) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, October 19, 2010, the Committee resumed its study of the management of the Department of Public Works and Government Services in awarding of contracts for the renovation of parliamentary buildings.
 

Sheila Fraser made a statement and, with the other witness, answered questions.

 

At 12:02 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

 

At 12:07, the Committee resumed sitting in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

The Chair presented the Sixth Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure which read as follows:

1. That the Committee, for its meeting of Tuesday, February 8, 2011, on the freeze on departmental budget envelopes and government operations, invite Treasury Board President, the Hon. Stockwell Day, and his officials, to appear for the first hour of the meeting and invite officials from the Department of Human Resources and Skills Development to appear for the second hour of the meeting;

2. That the Committee, for its meeting of Thursday, February 10, 2011, on the freeze on departmental budget envelopes and government operations, invite the Correctional Service of Canada to appear for the first hour of the meeting and invite officials from the Department of Industry to appear for the second hour of the meeting;

3. That the meeting of Tuesday, February 15, 2011, be devoted to committee business;

4. That the meeting of Thursday, February 17, 2011, be devoted to the consideration of Supplementary Estimates (C) 2010-2011.

 

It was agreed, — That the report of the Subcommittee be concurred in.

 

At 1:00 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
