The Standing Committee on National Defence met in camera at 4:56 p.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Chair, the Hon. Maxime Bernier, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Claude Bachand, Hon. Maxime Bernier, Ray Boughen, Peter Braid, Cheryl Gallant, Jack Harris, Hon. Laurie Hawn and LaVar Payne.

 

Acting Members present: Luc Desnoyers for Pascal-Pierre Paillé, Sukh Dhaliwal for Hon. Bryon Wilfert, Hon. Ken Dryden for Marcel Proulx and Hon. John McCallum for Hon. Dominic LeBlanc.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Wolfgang Koerner, Analyst; Melissa Radford, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

The Chair presented the Third Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure which read as follows:

1. That the trip to the Atlantic provinces in relation with the study on search and rescue response times be planned as follows:

— January 31, 2011: Site visits, public hearings and informal meetings in Gander, NL;

— February 1, 2011: Site visits, public hearings and informal meetings in St-John's, NL;

— February 2, 2011: Site visits in Greenwood, NS;

— February 3, 2011: Site visits in Halifax, NS;

2. That a press release be issued to announce the Committee's visit to Gander, St-John's, Greenwood and Halifax;

3. That the Members of the Committee submit their witnesses lists, in relation with the public hearings in Gander and St-John's NL, if possible, to the clerk of the Committee no later than January 14 2011;

4. That on February 7 and 9, 2011, the Committee commence its study on Bill C-41;

5. That on February 14 and 16, 2011, the Committee resume its study on the procurement of search and rescue airplanes;

6. That on February 28 and March 2, 2011, the Committee resume its study on Bill C-41.

 

It was agreed, — That the third report of the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure be adopted.

 

At 5:36 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
