The Report read as follows:
Your Subcommittee met on Thursday, November 18, 2010, to consider the business of the Committee and agreed to make the following recommendations:
1. That the Committee undertake a study of the Annual Report 2009–2010, Volume II, produced by the Commissioner of Official Languages (CLO), and invite the deputy ministers and deputy heads of the following federal institutions to appear:
- Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade;
- Canadian International Development Agency;
- Canada Border Services Agency;
- Library and Archives Canada;
- Department Citizenship and Immigration;
- Public Service Commission of Canada;
- Canada School of Public Service;
- Department of Industry;
- Passport Canada;
- Department of Fisheries and Oceans;
- Department of Natural Resources;
- Department of Health;
- Public Safety Canada;
- Correctional Service of Canada;
- Department of Transport;
- Department of Public Works and Government Services; and
That when possible these meetings be televised.
2. That the Committee study, on December 2, 2010, the use of Google Translator by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and invite representatives from the organization to appear, particularly Inspector Tim Shields and the RCMP’s official languages champion.
3. That the Committee study, on December 9, 2010, the National Defence Official Languages Program Transformation Model and invite witnesses to appear.
4. That the Committee study, on December 16, 2010, the provision of bilingual services by the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada, and invite Board members and the Hon. Jason Kenney, Minister of Immigration, Citizenship and Multiculturalism, to appear.
5. That, notwithstanding the Committee's routine motion deemed to have been adopted on March 3, 2010, seven (7) minutes be allotted to the first representative from each party during the first round of questioning.
