The Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights met at 8:35 a.m. this day, in the Ballroom A, Delta Winnipeg Hotel, Winnipeg, Manitoba, the Chair, Ed Fast, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Joe Comartin, Bob Dechert, Ed Fast, Alexandra Mendes, Brian Murphy, Rick Norlock, Daniel Petit, Brent Rathgeber and Stephen Woodworth.

 

Acting Members present: Monique Guay for Marc Lemay and Maria Mourani for Serge Ménard.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Robin MacKay, Analyst; Dominique Valiquet, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Resource Assistance for Youth Inc.: Kelly Holmes. Broadway Neighbourhood Centre: Laura Johnson, Just TV Project. Macdonald Youth Services: Paul Johnston, Client Services. Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, the Committee resumed its study on the state of organized crime.
 

Paul Johnston, Floyd Wiebe, Kelly Holmes, Michael A. Owen and Laura Johnson made statements and answered questions.

 

At 10:30 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:50 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Diane Redsky, Velma Orviss, Melissa Omelan, Leslie Spillett and Renee Kastrukoff made statements and, with the Jackie Anderson, answered questions.

 

At 12:48 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
