The Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology met at 9:00 a.m. this day, in Room 269, West Block, the Chair, Michael D.Chong, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Peter Braid, Gordon Brown, Serge Cardin, Hon. Michael D. Chong, Marc Garneau, Mike Lake, Brian Masse, Hon. Dan McTeague, Anthony Rota, Dave Van Kesteren and Mike Wallace.

Acting Members present: Carole Lavallée for Robert Bouchard.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Mathieu Frigon, Analyst ; Dillan Theckedath, Analyst.

Witnesses: Writers Guild of Canada: Maureen Parker, Executive Director; Rebecca Schechter, President. Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada: Peter Murdoch, Vice-President, Media; Michel Ouimet, Executive Vice-President, Québec. Canadian Conference of the Arts: Alain Pineau, National Director; Garry Neil, President of Neil Craig Associates. Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, March 11, 2010, the Committee resumed its study of Canada's Foreign Ownership Rules and Regulations in the Telecommunications Sector.

Maureen Parker, Rebecca Schechter, Peter Murdoch, Michel Ouimet, Alain Pineau and Garry Neil made statements and answered questions.

At 10:02 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:05 a.m., the sitting resumed.

Solange Drouin, Ferne Downey and Stephen Waddell made statements and answered questions.

At 10:59 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
