     Honourable members of the committee, I see that there is a quorum. We can now proceed to the election of the chair.

[Translation]

    I am ready to receive motions to that effect.
    I nominate Mr. Sweet for chair of the committee.
    Mr. McTeague has moved that Mr. Sweet be elected chair of the committee.

[English]

     Are there any further motions?

[Translation]

    Is it the pleasure of the committee to adopt the motion?

    (Motion agreed to)
    The Clerk: I declare the motion carried and Mr. Sweet duly elected chair of the committee.
    Some hon. members: Hear, hear!
    The Clerk: Before inviting Mr. Sweet to take the chair, I will now proceed to the election of the first vice-chair.

[Translation]

    I am ready to receive motions for the election of the first vice-chair.
    Mr. Lake.

    Mr. Lake nominates Mr. McTeague as first vice-chair of the committee.
    Are there any further motions?
    Is it the pleasure of the committee to adopt this motion?
     (Motion agreed to)
    The Clerk: I declare this motion adopted and Mr. McTeague duly elected as first vice-chair of the committee.

    I am ready to receive motions for the election of the second vice-chair.
    I nominate Mr. Robert Bouchard.
    Mr. Cardin has moved that Mr. Bouchard be elected second vice-chair of the committee.
    Are there any further motions?
    Is it the pleasure of the committee to adopt the motion?
    Some hon. members: Agreed.
    The Clerk: I declare the motion carried and Mr. Bouchard duly elected second vice-chair of the committee.
    Some hon. members: Hear, hear!
    The Clerk: I now invite Mr. Sweet to take the chair.
