The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met by videoconference at 8:46 a.m. this day, in Room 8-53, 131 Queen St., the Chair, Candice Hoeppner, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Josée Beaudin, Hon. Rick Casson, Raymonde Folco, Candice Hoeppner, Ed Komarnicki, Yves Lessard, Tony Martin, Hon. Maria Minna, Michael John Savage, Maurice Vellacott and Jeff Watson.

 

Acting Members present: David Tilson for Alice Wong.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Sandra Gruescu, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Adoption Council of Ontario: Pat Convery, Executive Director. New Brunswick Adoption Foundation: Suzanne Kingston, Executive Director. New Brunswick Office of the Ombudsman, Child and Youth Advocate: François Levert, Senior Investigator and Legal Officer. New Brunswick Adoption Foundation: Bernard Paulin, Board Member. Evan B. Donaldson Adoption Institute: Susan Smith, Program and Project Director. Adoption Support Centre of Saskatchewan: Cindy Xavier, Executive Director.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

On motion of Raymonde Folco, it was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $ 35, 550 in relation to the study on Federal Support Measures to Adoptive Parents, be adopted.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, March 17, 2010, the Committee resumed its study of the Federal Support Measures to Adoptive Parents.
 

François Levert et Pat Convery made statements and answered questions.

 

At 9:37 a.m., the sitting was suspended.
