The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met by videoconference at 8:48 a.m. this day, in Room C-120, 1 Wellington Street, the Chair, Candice Hoeppner, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Josée Beaudin, Hon. Rick Casson, Raymonde Folco, Candice Hoeppner, Ed Komarnicki, Yves Lessard, Tony Martin, Hon. Maria Minna, Michael John Savage, Maurice Vellacott, Jeff Watson and Alice Wong.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Sandra Gruescu, Analyst; André Léonard, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Marketing Research and Intelligence Association: Anne Crassweller, President, NADbank Inc. City of Toronto: Janet Davis, Councillor. Campaign 2000: Laurel Rothman, National Co-ordinator. Chinese Canadian National Council: Victor Wong, Executive Director. Marketing Research and Intelligence Association: Brendan Wycks, Executive Director.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, October 7, 2010, the Committee resumed its study of the impact of cancelling the long form census.
 

Janice Davis and Brendan Wycks, by videoconference from Toronto, Ontario, made statements and, with Anne Crassweller, answered questions.

 

At 9:42 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:45 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee request a written copy of all the transcripts of all the Standing Committees which have conducted a study on the Long Form Census, in both official languages, and that these transcripts be tabled and considered as part of the Committee’s study on the Long Form Census.

 

At 9:55 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:56 a.m., the sitting resumed in public.

 

Laurel Rothman and Victor Wong, by videoconference from Toronto, Ontario, made statements and answered questions.

 

At 10:39 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:40 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

At 10:48 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
