The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Candice Hoeppner, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Ron Cannan, Rick Casson, Raymonde Folco, Candice Hoeppner, Ed Komarnicki, Yves Lessard, Ben Lobb, Tony Martin, Hon. Maria Minna, Michael John Savage and Maurice Vellacott.

 

Acting Members present: Louis Plamondon for Josée Beaudin.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Chantal Collin, Analyst; André Léonard, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

Yves Lessard moved, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities study the procedures and practices for appealing a decision by the Employment Insurance Board of Referees, and that it report its findings and recommendations to the House.

Debate arose thereon.

 

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was agreed to, by a show of hands: YEAS: 11; NAYS: 0.

 

On motion of Michael John Savage, it was agreed, — That officials from the Human Resources Department be invited to appear before the Committee after June 9, 2010 on the Supplementary Estimates (A), tabled in the House on Tuesday, May 25, 2010.

 

At 3:54 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:38 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, March 17, 2010, the Committee resumed its study of the Federal Contribution to Reducing Poverty in Canada.
 

The Committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

 

At 5:22 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
