The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Candice Hoeppner, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Josée Beaudin, Ron Cannan, Rick Casson, Raymonde Folco, Candice Hoeppner, Yves Lessard, Ben Lobb, Tony Martin, Hon. Maria Minna, Michael John Savage and Maurice Vellacott.

 

Acting Members present: Royal Galipeau for Ed Komarnicki and Judy Wasylycia-Leis for Tony Martin.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Chantal Collin, Analyst; André Léonard, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Association for Community Living: Bendina Miller, President; Michael Bach, Executive Vice-President. Council of Canadians with Disabilities: John Rae, Vice-Chairperson; Laurie Beachell, National Coordinator.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Monday, April 19, 2010, the Committee commenced its study of disability-related barriers.
 

John Rae, Bendina Miller, Laurie Beachell and Michael Bach made statements and answered questions.

 

At 4:30 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:34 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Wednesday, March 17, 2010, the Committee resumed its study of the Federal Contribution to Reducing Poverty in Canada.
 

At 5:17 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
