The Standing Committee on Health met in a televised session at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Joy Smith, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Josée Beaudin, Patrick Brown, Colin Carrie, Patricia Davidson, Ruby Dhalla, Hon. Ujjal Dosanjh, Kirsty Duncan, Megan Anissa Leslie, Luc Malo, Tilly O'Neill-Gordon, Joy Smith and Tim Uppal.

 

Other Members present: Niki Ashton.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Sonya Norris, Analyst; Karin Phillips, Analyst. House of Commons: Julie-Anne Macdonald, Committee Clerk.

 

Appearing: Hon. Leona Aglukkaq, P.C., M.P., Minister of Health.

Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2011-12: Votes 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 and 50 under HEALTH, referred to the Committee on Tuesday, March 1, 2011.
 

The Chair called Vote 1 under HEALTH.

 

The Minister made a statement and, with Alain Beaudet, Glenda Yeates, David Butler-Jones and Elinor Wilson, answered questions.

At 5:13 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:14 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

Colin Carrie moved, — That pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee undertake the study to review the progress in implementing the health accord; and

That these meetings follow the guidelines and timelines similar to the statutory review conducted by this Committee in 2008.

 

On motion of Ujjal Dosanjh, it was agreed, — That the debate be now adjourned.

 

At 5:18 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
