The Standing Committee on Health met in camera at 11:03 a.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Joy Smith, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Patrick Brown, Colin Carrie, Patricia Davidson, Ruby Dhalla, Hon. Ujjal Dosanjh, Nicolas Dufour, Kirsty Duncan, Luc Malo, Cathy McLeod, Joy Smith and Tim Uppal.

 

Acting Members present: Carol Hughes for Megan Anissa Leslie.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Sonya Norris, Analyst; Karin Phillips, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, March 30, 2010, the Committee resumed its study on the impact of microwaves on human health.
 

The Committee commenced consideration of the draft report.

 

At 12:18 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:24 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: "An Examination of the Potential Health Impacts of Radiofrequency Electromagnetic Radiation".

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and Analysts be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee append to its report supplementary/dissenting opinions from members of all parties provided that it is no more than one (1) page in length (font = 12; line spacing = 1.5) and that the dissenting or supplementary opinions be submitted electronically to the Clerk of the Committee in both official languages, no later than Monday, November 22, 2010.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

 

ORDERED, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the proposed operational budget in the amount of $16,700 for the Committee’s administrative review of Assisted Human Reproduction Canada be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee invite the Minister of Health and Officials from Health Canada and related agencies to appear before the Committee on Thursday, November 25, 2010 in order to discuss the Supplementary Estimates (B) 2010-2011; and that, should the Minister not be available on that date, the Minister appear before the Committee prior to the date required to report back to the House.

 

At 1:01 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
