The Standing Committee on Health met in camera at 11:03 a.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Vice-Chair, Kirsty Duncan, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Patrick Brown, Colin Carrie, Patricia Davidson, Nicolas Dufour, Kirsty Duncan, Megan Anissa Leslie, Cathy McLeod and Tim Uppal.

 

Acting Members present: Serge Cardin for Luc Malo, Bonnie Crombie for Ruby Dhalla and Alexandra Mendes for Hon. Ujjal Dosanjh.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Marie Chia, Analyst; Karin Phillips, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the letter to the Minister of Health on rare diseases, as amended, be adopted.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, March 30, 2010, the Committee resumed its study on the cancellation of the HIV vaccine manufacturing facility under Canadian HIV Vaccine Initiative.
 

The Committee commenced consideration of a draft report.

 

It was agreed, — That the draft report, as amended, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That the report be entitled: Review of the Cancellation of the Canadian HIV Vaccine Initiative's HIV Vaccine Manufacturing Facility Project.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair, Clerk and analyst be authorized to make such grammatical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the report.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee append to its report a supplementary/dissenting opinion from members of the Bloc Québécois provided that it is no more than one (1) page in length (font = 12; line spacing = 1.5) and that the dissenting or supplementary opinion be submitted electronically to the Clerk of the Committee in both official languages, no later than Thursday, October 14, 2010.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to the report.

 

It was agreed, — That the Chair present the report to the House.

 

At 11:15 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
